The works included the remediation of a former mine housing yard. The site area required drilling and grouting of shallow mine working and shafts and the remediation of 9000m3 of unsuitable contaminated material. Part of this material was remediated on site and rendered reusable as general fill. The fill was stabilised to improve ground bearing properties and avoid tipping costs. The construction works included access roads, external pavements, retaining walls, drainage, and light industrial units. All the works were undertaken on a design and construct basis.
